Newburyport and Home Again
It is so nice to be home again and to be sleeping in my own bed, next to K, without SP's toes digging into my ribs. Ahhhhh. Here's what we did on the rest of my vacation:
- Tuesday was indeed a wet morning, but it cleared up nicely. My sister Glo sent K and me back into the city for dinner and a show while she watched SP. (This was the very first time we left SP with anyone.) Anyway, we saw Shear Madness, a comedy murder-mystery where the audience helps to solve the crime. I really enjoyed the show and was not at all sad that we didn't get tickets to the Blue Man Group. Paa-leeze... SP bangs on things all day long.
- We left Woburn and headed to Newburyport to stay with my sister Pat and her family. Since it was a nice day, we once again went to the beach, this time to Plum Island. I have to admit, for SP it just wasn't as nice as Good Harbor Beach. But we did have fun; we all went into the water, took a walk to find shells, built sandcastles, and made an ocean pool for the kiddies. SP once again just had to taste the ocean to see if it was salty. It was.
This was taken at Good Harbor Beach. SP loved swimming in the warm canal water.
Hey, I'm busy in my ocean pool. You can take a picture, but I won't smile.
- Thursday we all walked to downtown Newburyport. Alas, I wasn't feeling good so as soon as my sister Glo came to meet us there, she took me back to Pat's house. I napped and took a shower and felt good as new. Later we all went to dinner to celebrate K's 31st birthday.
This is SP and me before I left downtown Newburypost early.
(It's one of my very favorite pictures of the two of us.)
Here I am between my two sisters, Pat and Glo.
- Friday we got all packed up and headed out at about 9 am. SP took a three-hour nap and woke up refreshed. However, as we got near the Finger Lakes area in New York, she had a melt down. She just couldn't be in that car seat any longer. At all. So we stopped in Waterloo, NY at a Holiday Inn. And that is where most of the money for the whole dang trip was spent.
But it was worth it, I guess. We had a great dinner and then we went swimming and then she went to bed. K and I watched Ocean's Thirteen (I love those movies) before we, too, hit the hay. - Saturday brought us home. The only bad traffic we hit, going to Massachusetts or coming home to Michigan, was at the Blue Water Bridge. It took us about 30 minutes to get across customs because we, of course, were in the slowest lane ever. EVER.
So, we're home now and so very glad we took the trip out there. Next year we may be renting a house in Maine for a couple of weeks with three of my other siblings and their families. We'll see. Until then, we have some great memories of this trip.

Sounds great! Good to have you home and back. Maine sounds fabulous. We're working on maybe going for a week in Quebec next summer. But we'll see ...
The trip sounds great! I do like that picture of you two. I have one of those of me and my older daughter. Maine is absolutely glorious--I hope you get to go. I highly recommend it, particularly Acadia National Park (and no, you don't have to camp!)
@tatiana622 - Well, camping wouldn't be that bad...
Welcome home! But wait, you don't like sleeping with SP's toes digging into your ribs? :)
Those pictures are adorable! She looks like she is having so much fun in the water! What a fun trip - I am glad you had a good time with your siblings and all your activities!
